Extension Reels, the Dogs Enemy

My friend’s dog eats everything. Yesterday, it was my shoes. The day before, his owners power cords. Then, prior to that there was one of his roommate’s sunglasses. Basically if you leave something out, it will be destroyed. As we get into more expensive realms, like ipods, couches, outdoor hoses, close supervision must be present. In this case, seeing as the dog refuses to learn anything, a better solution is to just have more preventative measures taken. In the case of the hose, an extension reel would be suitable. Extension reels allow for the hose to be put away and, hopefully, out of reach from the dog.

Extension reels can be a positive addition in a number of scenarios. They can be of use in the average household, in the garage, at the office or in factories. They can be used for items other than hoses as well, such as power cords and other electrical cords. These reels can keep the cord/hose out of the way, keep them organized, and offer some protection. Further, they can be mounted on the wall or made to be portable with wheels and a handle for easy transportation. They can also come in a variety of sizes, materials and strengths to fit individual application needs.

For the most part, extension reels are wound automatically by an electric, spring or air power source. This allows it to be unwound or rewound with the least effort possible. There are some cases however, in which they can be manual powered. These can be slightly more difficult, but can also save money for the consumer. Extension reels can even be equipped for waterproofing and cord protection. In cases such as these, the reels are given thermoplastic cord insulation. The only hazard with reels is in the case of electrical cords, they can occasionally overheat, so the user must be careful.
